I’ve had lots of questions about creating this starry night background for this card – Lovely As A Tree Starry Night Christmas Card. So I have a video tutorial for you today! I’ll walk you through creating the watercolor background and stamping and embossing the tree and the starry sky.
Once again this Top Note Gift Card Holder was inspired by a Stampin’ Up! demonstrator blog. A perk I love about being a SU demo. This card looks involved but it is actually quite easy to make. View the video tutorial below and I’ll walk you through the quick steps to creating this ‘scentsational’ card.
Cut your cardstock 4-1/4″ x 11″ and score at 4-1/2, 5-1/2 & 6-1/2, then follow the directions in the video to run your scored cardstock through the Big Shot Die-cutting Machine with the Top Note Bigz Die and create the pop up gift card holder shown above.
To decorate the front of the card, I die-cut a piece of the Be of Good Cheer Designer Series Paper to fit on the front and cover the left edge of the gift card holder. I punched a large circle of Gumball Green cardstock and layered the fun, steaming mug from the Scentsational Season Stamp Set with the matching Holiday Framelit dies.
The Merry Christmas sentiment from Wacky Wishes Hostess stamp set was stamped in Cherry Cobbler, and it punched out perfectly with the Extra-Wide Oval punch.
A little dazzling details glitter and some rhinestones add extra glitz to the Soft Suede mug. And another large circle in Whisper White in the interior gives you a place to write a personal message.

Today I wanted to show you how to make the Top Note Purse Gift Card Holder that I showed you a few days ago. I’ve recopied the supply list below or you can go to the original post to view more written instructions and pictures. I hope you enjoye this tutorial!
Stamping Julie reader Gail sent me this terrific fall floral card. Gail writes, “Julie, Thanks for sharing your talent with me on your blog.” Isn’t that so sweet! Thank you, Gail, for this lovely thank you card!
The flowers are beautifully colored with markers and shadowing. She used the Square Lattice Embossing Folder to add texture to her scallop oval frame. And look how clever the fold is on his card!

Yesterday I showed you this birthday card I made with the Embellished Events stamp set. You can see that post here. I love all the color and in the video below I’ll show you how I color the stamp to get this effect. Plus I’ll show you how I use the paper-piercing tool to place the adhesive-backed pearls. Also, I’ll show you how I add glitter to the flames.
You will love the Dazzling Diamonds Glitter. It’s easy to apply anywhere and adds great sparkle to any project. As you notice in the video, I like to store the glitter in a old Tupperware container, which makes application even that much easier! Follow me on facebook for more ideas.
