The Big Shot Is….

A SUPER STAR!!!

For the Birds Blendabilities stampingjulie.com

Every project…EVERY PROJECT…is improved with the Big Shot!

Imagine these adorable birds on a background of So Saffron without those perky little chevrons…or on a rectangle instead of this fun little tag.  How did I make these things happen?   THE BIG SHOT!

The big shot is a work horse.  I’ve had mine for years and with doing stamp classes, I’m sure I use mine much more than the average stamping enthusiast.  And it just keeps cutting and texturing.

This month you can get a free stamp set and framelits bundle (including the framelits I used to crop out the tag above) with your purchase of the big shot.  That’s nearly half off the big shot!  That’s a BIG deal!

There is no time like now to invest in this great tool.  And I love the sleek black look of the Stampin’ Up! Big shot.  It looks great in any craft room.

love is always the answer

My Word for 2014 Is LOVE

love is always the answer

Truly, love is the only thing that really matters!

When you back into your garage door…yes, I did that…all that really matters is love.

When you’re ten minutes late for an appointment because you lost track of time….yes, I did that too…love is all that really matters.

When you don’t agree about politics…it’s true, my husband and I don’t agree…love is the answer.

Love is always the answer blue

When you are overwhelmed and you’re not sure what to do…love.

When you’re sad and lonely…love.

When you feel sick and tired and tired and sick…the answer is love.

LOVE is always the answer!

I believe in God.  And I believe that God loves us with a powerful love that is incomprehensible.  And I believe that when we replace all our sad, bad, lonely, frustrated feelings with love, we fill our lives with God’s love.

And that is powerful.

What’s all this have to do with stamping?  Maybe nothing.  Except that I feel so blessed to have stamping and you in my life.  And I feel blessed to hear about how you bless others with your handcrafted cards and gifts.

Thanks for stopping by!  Have a blessed day!

Julie

Something to Say Coastal Cabana Thank You Card

something to say coastal cabana thank you stampingjulie.com

Do I have something to say?

Always.

Almost always.  But what’s the most important thing to say behind “I Love You”  and “I’m Sorry?”

“Thank you.”

Is that the order you would put it in?

Look at these adorable flowers?  Can you imagine fussy cutting those flowers out?  I can’t…and I didn’t.  The secret….a coordinating punch.  Can you say “woot, woot?”

I used the Coastal Cabana blendabilities to paint the flowers.  If you look closely you can see that I also used a little Rich Razzleberry also in the center.  I love combining a couple of colors to add some interest.

A little bit of Silver Sparkle Dazzling Diamonds  in the center of the each flower adds the obvious – sparkle.

Bachelorette Andi

I’m warning you.

If you recorded the Bachelorette two nights ago and still have not watched it…

…go watch it and…DO….NOT…READ…ANY…FURTHER!

But chances are you already know the results…

…or you live in a different solar system!

This is my first season ever watching the Bachelor franchise.  I know.  Hard to believe.  And I’m sorry if you are a big Bachelor fan, but it is likely to be the last season I watch it too.  My sister was visiting when the season started and wanted me to watch the first episode with her or the second, or both.   I can’t remember.

That’s the problem with reality shows – or the good thing, if you are the producer – they suck you in.  Because they are REAL people, hence the ‘reality’ in reality show, it doesn’t take long to care about the people and want to know what happens to them.  So I watched the end of the season and …

…I loved the outcome!

Therefore, this..

for josh and andi murray

…For Andi Dorfman and Josh Murray

(To see how I made this in MDS click here and if you know how I can send this engagement gift to them send me a message.  haha)

I think they are adorable and I love their positive energy.  Best of all, it reminded me of my engagement to my husband – minus the beautiful setting, beautiful clothes and beautiful people – which is a super sweet memory.

And the way Josh ended up in a puddle of sweat when he proposed…oh my…that was just like my Ron.  You should have seen him the day we got married.  Ron said he wasn’t nervous but the puddle he was standing in when the ceremony was over said otherwise.

It’s been 20 years for us, and I hope that Andi and Josh enjoy their next 20 years as much as we have.  I would show you a picture from our wedding but I haven’t found them since the move.  oops.

Chalk Talk Thank You

A Chalk Talk Thank You and Missed Opportunities

Chalk Talk Thank You

What happens when you create, and create, and you take pictures and you don’t share them?

This…

… a Chalk Talk thank you card that includes great stuff that you can’t get anymore.

Big bummer!

All is not lost…lots of great stuff on this card that is still available…but it could be gone too eventually.

Moral of the story?

…I’ll leave that up to you.

I love the Apothecary framelits I used to trim the layers of the tag.  And…BONUS…they’re still available!

Using only one color with a couple of neutrals is an easy way to get a unified look.  Score!

Coordinating pattern paper, cardstock and embossing powder in Stampin’ Up! Melon Mambo – it’s like Color Coordination for Dummies.

Chalk Talk Thank You detail

Black always adds so much style and sophistication to a card even if it is a chalkboard.  I’m a fan of black.  I disagree that Orange is the New Black.  Sorry, Netflix.

I still love the chalkboard look.   How about you?  You can easily achieve this chalkboard technique by heat embossing on black cardstock.   Then rub white craft ink randomly across the black cardstock with a sponge for that chalky, just erased look.

Apparently, Stampin’ Up! does not feel the need to consult me before making product retirement decisions.

What’s up with that?

I can guarantee you that if they had asked me, I would have said you can’t retire these sweet open hearts from Hearts A Flutter or the Melon Mambo embossing powder until after I’ve walked on the moon.

Which is NEVER!

But the good news, I guess, is that amazing stamp sets and accessories retire so we can have more amazing stamp sets and accessories.

And we don’t all have to have back surgery from carrying around a catalog that weighs 500 pounds.

Chalk Talk Thank You close up

And more good news – the bakers twine is now available in seven new colors and the new thick baker’s twine is available in five colors.  Seven plus five equals twelve new options.  Check it out here.
