This is the fabulous card my sister gave to me for my birthday. She designed these 5″ x 7″ birthday cards in MDS and then sent them straight from the software to Stampin’ Up! to be printed. The printed cards are really nice and they come with envelopes too.
She used the Comfort Café digital dsp for the background on the front, the back and the inside. She added a Crumb Cake band across the middle front, a Very Vanilla decorative label punch and a Night of Navy happy birthday stamp from the Engraved Greetings digital stamp brush set.
After adding the background to the back she included a Night of Navy filled punch with her initials to personalize her creation.
She kept it simple on the inside with more dsp at the top and a ‘make it a good one’ greeting.
Make a few of your own birthday cards and order them today so you’ll always have what you need on hand.
A Split Second Designer Template – Digital Download #132562 $2.95
This week my daughter announced her new baby due in November with these cute pictures of my granddaughter holding a chalkboard sign declaring her upcoming status as ‘Big Sister’! So cute!! And so exciting! And ’Big Sister’ has a new cousin coming in October, so this November baby will be grandbaby #5! Wow – I feel so blessed!
We all know it’s important to document family milestones. And we know that scrapbooking is a fantastic way to do it, but sometimes we don’t scrapbook these events because of our perfectionism. We don’t want to do it unless we can do it ‘right.’ I guess that’s one of the many things I LOVE about MDS. I can do it, do it ‘right’ and do it FAST!
With traditional scrapbooking I would have spent a couple of hours creating a layout for these pictures, but with MDS this layout took me 10 minutes!! I selected the Split Second Designer Template, dropped in the pictures, shifted the ‘arrow’ embellishment a little to fit the picture and added journaling – that’s it! Done!

On Holiday Photobook Template- digital download # 134376
The On Holiday Photobook Template is new this week. You can view more information and pictures of this new template by clicking on the picture above. You can watch video tutorials on using a photobook template here and here. (These were recorded before the latest update, but the basic functions are still the same.)
Here’s a video from Holly at Stampin’ Up! that will introduce you to the latest version of MDS!
I’m a big family history buff! I love it and have been researching my family for more than 15 years now and teaching and lecturing on family history for more than a dozen years. So I was super excited when Stampin’ Up! introduced the 12×12 family history digital photobook template for MDS in January.
The template for this photo book has a picture square behind the ‘family history’ banner. I changed it to a block and added the family name. I really enjoy being able to start with a template and adjust it to my needs.
The picture of the couple above is of my grandparents, HD and Josie DeLoach. The best I can tell this picture was taken around the time they got married which was 1941. This is just the beginnings of my album and as you can tell I haven’t filled in all the data yet on the page below, but it gives you an idea of how easy it is to do.
For the other history buffs out there, I have to tell you of my latest discovery! (For the rest of you, skip down below for the latest digital downloads!)
Last month the Louisville Genealogical Society meeting included a presentation from a couple who had a journal of an ancestor’s civil war experience. It was a very small, fragile book with some wonderful excerpts about the history of the time.
Years ago I learned that the Brooks County Genealogical Society in Quitman, Georgia, had published “The Civil War Letters of Bryant Folsom.” Bryant Folsom was my 3rd great grandfather, an ancestor of my grandmother above, who died in the war. I was anxious to get a copy of the publication. Unfortunately, it was printed in 1997 and by the time I found out about it there were no copies available.
Occasionally I would search the web for a copy, but I never had any luck. After going to the civil war lecture last month, I decided to try my search again and I found one for sale on Amazon! I immediately purchased it and it was delivered just days later in perfect condition! Success! I am so happy to have this book for my family.

Creating a blog banner or header is easy to do in My Digital Studio. This is the banner my niece, Danielle designed for my daughter and my greenleavesandjam.com website. She used two fonts for this design, Bebas and Ballpark. By adding each letter as a separate text box you can overlap the letters to get this look. You can change the opacity of your text by clicking on the text box and changing the opacity on the slider in the design center.
Here’s another design we considered for the site which was also created in MDS. We ultimately went with the design above. Which design do you prefer?
Today I have another My Digital Studio (MDS) video tutorial for you. I’ll walk you through step-by-step how I created this printable. You can make a printable from any quote that you like. If you want to display a favorite scripture, a funny saying, a birthday greeting, message or an inspirational quote, just follow these step-by-step instructions and you can have a custom-made printable!
And even if you aren’t interested in creating a printable, but you are interested in scrapbooking or any other digital designing in MDS, you will learn things from the video tutorial that you can use for whatever you choose to design.
There are three new digital downloads available this week including a FREE download!

BREAKING NEWS! Stampin’ Up! just announced new prices for My Digital Studio software!
Here’s the announcement and all the details from the Stampin’ Up! Digital Team:
Big Changes for My Digital Studio
For the past few months, we’ve been working on some big changes, and we just can’t contain ourselves anymore. So, raise your hands if you want to know what we’ve been up to? (Yes, we can sense your virtual curiosity.)
Alright, here it goes:
We’re changing the name of the software to MDS. Now, you might be asking yourself, didn’t it just change to MDS 2 last year? Yep, it sure did.
We’re lowering the price! What has been known as MDS 2+ is now $19.95 US/$24.95 CAN and will be called . . . yes, you guessed it, MDS. It’s the same great software and content at a fantastic new price.
Coming soon: all of you who have been holding onto the original My Digital Studio software will be able to upgrade for FREE. We’ll let you know as soon as it is available. (Can we get a woot, woot?)
Yep, THAT just happened.
Other stuff you may want to know:
We will still offer a free 30-day trial version of the MDS software for anyone who had not previously tried the MDS 2 Trial.
The original My Digital Studio software (not the product line) is going away, including support for it. The free upgrade will be available soon!
MDS 2 (the software that didn’t have much content) is going away.
You can still get the software on a disc (item 130647) or as a download (item 130646). Just keep in mind the disc will say MDS 2+ on it because it will take us awhile to switch everything out.
Share your excitement below. (Virtual high-fives all around.)
Stampin’ Up! My Digital Studio Team
And a follow-up announcement: Here is some additional background… Since the launch of My Digital Studio, we have been making improvements on our end, and our demonstrators have done a great job selling and promoting My Digital Studio on their end. We have been working with our vendor regarding pricing, and now that we have reached higher quantities, our vendor has reduced the cost of the product. We, in turn, are passing that savings along to you immediately. You may remember that we went through a similar process last fall, and were able to pass some savings along to you then in regards to print product pricing. We are thrilled that the popularity of My Digital Studio continues to increase and are committed to the success of this product line.
More good news for those that purchased MDS 2+ from March 1 to March 17, 2013:
If you purchased the software at the old price from March 1 to March 17, 2013, the following will be added to your Download Manager by Wednesday, March 20:
