Keep Calm & Eat a Cupcake

I love playful birthday cards! This card was designed by my sister during our stamping marathon last month. She used a different stamp set to make hers and I chose this little cupcake from the Stampin’ Up! Carry On stamp set – love it! Layering stamped images is a great way to increase interest in your designs. I really love the crisp look of this fun cupcake and the ‘eat a cupcake’ font. And the Flourish Designer Frame highlights the message with style!

Stampin’ Up! Nature Walk Collage Greeting

I have always loved the collage style but it doesn’t come naturally to me. The Nature Walk stamp set makes collage stamping easy and using clear-mount stamps makes it even easier. I mounted the bee, butterfly and number stamp on one block and stamped them in More Mustard.

I stamped the bird egg images with Sahara Sand and the floral image with Old Olive. Finally I stamped the bird cage with Midnight Muse and added a wire hanger with a straight edge and the fine tip Midnight Muse marker.

I created the ‘For You’ tag with the Layered Labels stamp set stamped in Old Olive and die-cut with the Apothecary Accents Framelits. I stamped it again with Midnight Muse and punched with the large oval punch and layered it all with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The final touch was knotted on with stitched Midnight Muse ribbon.

I was going for a simple, sophisticated collage greeting card. I hope I hit the mark! What do you think?

You’re Amazing Birthday Balloon

This beautiful card was designed and made by my Stampin’-guru sister Kari. She started with the hot-air balloon from You’re Amazing stamp set and stamped it with Always Artichoke on sponged Bashful Blue clouds on Whisper White card stock. Embossing the balloon with the Square Lattice Embossing Folder was brilliant!

The corners were quarter punched with a circle punch and then the piece was adhered to a Not Quite Navy mat with added brads in the corners.

Happy Birthday was stamped with Pacific Point on Crumb Cake cardstock. Pacific Point is bright but stamped on the darker Crumb Cake it blends nicely with Not Quite Navy. She then ran ‘happy birthday’ through the Big Shot with the Apothecary Labels framelit and added reinforcements with a 1/2″ punched Always Artichoke circles.

The cute ticket fits perfectly in the Jewelry Tag punch. And tied on with a loopy bakers twine bow, the ticket makes a great addition.

Stamping Julie reader Gail sent me this terrific fall floral card. Gail writes, “Julie, Thanks for sharing your talent with me on your blog.” Isn’t that so sweet! Thank you, Gail, for this lovely thank you card!

The flowers are beautifully colored with markers and shadowing. She used the Square Lattice Embossing Folder to add texture to her scallop oval frame. And look how clever the fold is on his card!

Stampin’ Up! Embellished Events Birthday

A colorful birthday cake from Embellish Events stamp set is a great way to celebrate a friend’s birthday. Using markers to color in the cake layers adds fun color and adding pearls makes it extra special! The Embellish Events set is a versatile set that will take you through many seasons and special events.

I used the Rich Razzleberry, More Mustard, Midnight Muse and Soft Suede to color in the cake stamp then stamped it on Very Vanilla cardstock. I like to use the point of my Paper-Piercing Tool to add the adhesive-backed Basic Jewel Pearls.

I used the Stamp-a-ma-jig to stamp celebrate three times along the bottom of the More Mustard cardstock. After stamping the message I embossed this piece with the Elegant Lines Folder in the Big Shot Die-Cutting Machine, and finally, added a couple of pearls. I highlighted the stamped sentiment by tieing Victoria Crochet Lace just above it.
