Glittery Watercolor Friend Card

just believe watercolor glitter card stampingjulie.com

I really like watercolor cards  with unexpected color splashes so I thought I would experiment with the technique and I ended up with the inky fingers to prove it!  I used Shimmery White cardstock and the Just Believe stamp set for this experiment.

I stamped the label with Midnight Muse and embossed it with clear embossing powder.  Then I stamped ‘friends’ with Primrose Petals.  After trimming out the label I layered it on a Silver Glimmer paper label.  I used Primrose Petals and Silver Glimmer cardstock to create and layer the butterflies from the Beautiful Wings Embosslits die.

just believe watercolor glitter card stampingjulie.com I squirted the background cardstock with water before splattering Primrose Petals, Midnight Muse and Always Artichoke reinkers which allowed the ink to spread.  I put a few dabs of Silver Sparkle Dazzling Details glitter adhesive and spread it with my finger on the background.  I also added a couple of dots of the glitter to the butterflies and the flowers on the label.  Finally, I added a few rhinestones.

Just Believe Just For You CAS Card

just believe just for you card stampingjulie.com The Stampin’ Up! retiring stamp set Just Believe, Bonnie Klass and the Sunshine and Sprinkles designer series paper were the inspiration for this clean and simple (CAS) card. (The complete supply list is at the bottom of this post.)

I love this layout and have used it numerous times over the years, so when I saw Bonnie’s Open Seas card with the world map down the left side I knew just what I wanted to do. And since I wanted it bright and cheery I went straight to the Sunshine and Sprinkles for color inspiration.

just believe just for you card stampingjulie.com The center panel measures 3-3/4″ x 5″ which allows for a 1/4″ border on a standard 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″ card.  This size panel is my go-to when I’m layering color on color.  The circle were stamped in Melon Mambo, Pacific Point, Wild Wasabi, Marina Mist and Daffodil Delight and punched out with the 1-1/4″ circle punch.  After laying them out and adhering the circles to the panel, I used my paper snips to trim the circles at the top and the bottom.

just believe just for you card stampingjulie.com I stamped the sentiment from the same Just Believe stamp set and wrapped Bakers Twine around the panel before I adhered it to the card base with dimensionals.  Another option would be to use a mask and stamp the circles directly on the card front.  For more information on using a mask, check out this post or watch the video below.

just believe just for you card stampingjulie.com As I mentioned before the Sunshine and Sprinkles dsp was the inspiration for the colors on this card and I lined my envelope with paper from this pack.  I hope to post a video tomorrow and show you how easy it is to line your envelopes with coordinating patterns.

oh hello flower greeting card stampingjulie.com
This Oh, Hello! flower greeting card came together quickly with a sketch and dsp inspiration.  The sketch is below and was created from the Easter card I made in March.  The designer series paper is part of the new Stampin’ Up! This and That product line.  Today and tomorrow you can get the This and That bundle and save 15%!!

stampingjulie.com card sketch I created three cards with this sketch last week: Oh Whale baby card, the Epic Day butterfly thank you card, and the Hello card featured here today.  Each card was inspired by the sketch but each looks totally different from the others.  That’s what I love about sketches!  You have a starting point but the results are unique depending on the materials you use.

For today’s card, I used the colors from the This and That Epic Day dsp and stamped the chevron background in Daffodil Delight.  Then I stamped Oh Hello in Black StazOn.  I purposely trimmed my dsp so that the Calypso Coral that you see in the upper left corner showed up in my piece.

On a scrap paper I colored in the flower stamp with Calypso Coral and Gumball Green markers then added shadowing with Always Artichoke and Cajun Craze before stamping.  I covered the stamped flower with Versamark ink and embossed it with clear embossing powder.  Then I carefully cut it out with my Paper Snips.  I also cut out another blossom from Calypso Coral cardstock and layered that underneath the flower for additional dimension.

I wrapped the die cut oval with Linen Thread by notching the sides with a small paper punch.  I added the flower over the thread with Dimensionals and then tied a knot of Linen Thread and glued it to the stem with Multipurpose Liquid glue.  It’s a whole lot easier to do it that way than to try to tie a knot around that tiny delicate stem!

I will definitely miss this Just Believe stamp set from Stampin’ Up! I love the silhouette flowers and the simple type of the sentiments.  These beautiful images make it super simple to create an elegant greeting card.

To create this card I started with a piece of Whisper White cardstock that I repeatedly stamped the large silhouette flowers with Not Quite Navy.  Then I brayered River Rock at the bottom and Baja Breeze from the top, then adding a little Not Quite Navy brayered from the top.

just believe greeting card stampingjulie.com After brayering the background, I used the Label Collection framelit to cut it out this focal panel.  To make the ‘just for you’ tag, I embossed the frame and greeting on River Rock cardstock and punched it out with the Large Oval punch.

The white background is embossed with the Big Shot and the Stripes embossing folder.  Each layer was adhered to the Whisper White cardstock base with Dimensionals.  A little, Baja Breeze Seam Binding ribbon adds the perfect finishing touch.
