Learn From My Mistakes! Episode 2

Here’s another installment in:  “Learn From My Mistakes!”

Summer Silhouettes Stamp Set

I love my clear stamps – easy to use and fabulous, uniform storage.  If you’ve been here for long you know how much I love this stamp set, Stampin’ Up! Summer Silhouette.  You can see samples hereNotice the number on the front bottom of the case – 9!

So several days after I had started stamping with this set I was putting it away and I counted my stamps.   A good practice I have had since the beginning of my stamping days. Hmmmm – 8.  I counted again. 8  And again.  8

So I started comparing the cover picture with the stamps and I discovered I was missing………the stem!

Summer Silhouettes Stamps

Apparently, when I popped the rubber out of their sheet and put the stickers on, I totally missed the stem and I guess I….gasp…threw it away!!!  Ugh!!!

I have found a remedy though.  When I’ve needed a stem I’ve turned the long stemmed flower upside down and stamped the end of the stem.

So the moral of the story: ALWAYS check and count your stamps when you assemble them the first time!

Hoping for your Stamping Success!

Enjoy!  Julie

Clean and Simple Eiffel Tower Silhouette

artistic etchings eiffel tower amour

This Eiffel Tower stamp from the Stampin’ Up!’s Artistic Etchings stamp set and the Basic Gray paper from the Twitterpated Designer Series Paper makes a great silhouette.  I stamped the Eiffel Tower on the back of the paper and cut it out carefully with Paper Snips.  Looks intricate, but easy to do with these great scissors.

This is not your traditional card size.  I started with a 6″x6″ square of Whisper White card stock folded in half for the card base for a 3″x6″ card.

Can you see the pattern on the Summer Starfruit card stock?  The crown and key images were stamped with VersaMark ink to create that pattern.

I punched the Primrose Petals oval with the Extra-Large Oval Punch to create the background for the silhouette.  I picked the color combination from the Color Coach – a great tool for creative color choices.

Stampin’ Up! Vintage Chic

Vintage Vogue (retiring) is the perfect stamp set for clean and simple chic.  The color scheme is a hint of pink in Blushing Bride (retiring) and the always chic Basic Black.

The background was created by embossing white vellum card stock with the beautiful Finial Press Embossing Folder (retiring).   The embossed vellum was then mounted on Blushing Bride card stock.  The subtle pink behind the vellum shows off the elegant design of the embossed vellum.

The Big Shot Die-Cutting Machine is the star of the show on this card creating the elegant impressed background and the lovely black tag to frame the oval ‘friends’.

A simple little flower from Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack with a tiny pearl adds just the right touch.

Card Recipe:
Stamps: Vintage Vogue (retiring) # 117690 wood-mount, # 118598 clear-mount
Paper: Blushing Bride cs (retired), Whisper White cs #100730, Basic Black #101179
