Family Sunday – Siena Comes to Visit!

When our granddaughter Siena came to visit this month she was not sure about me.  These pictures were taken the first day she was here.  Now she smiles for me and doesn’t look quite so confused when she sees me.  Success!!

Family Sunday – Happy Mother’s Day and the Tale of the $500 Bathing Suit!

Happy Mother’s Day!

A couple of years ago, my uncle scanned some family pictures and posted them in an online album.  I had fun pulling pictures from there to create this quick MDS project that features my mother, grandmother and great grandmother. 

The first page is my beautiful mother.  Isn’t she just lovely and cute?  The oval picture on the right was taken when she was in high school and the picture on the bottom right was taken when I was in high school.

This second page features my mother’s mother – my grandmother.  She was a beautiful woman also.  She was very bright and enjoyed reading.  She was an exceptional seamstress and was always busy creating baby booties for her dozens of grandchildren and great grandchildren.

This is my great grandmother – mother to Josie.  At the bottom of the page you will see a picture of her on the beach in her bathing suit.  Yes, that’s a bathing suit.  Check out the shoes!  The story is that she splurged to buy the suit, paying $25.  So how does that compare to today?  Calculating inflation that suit would cost over $530 today!  Yousa!

All three pages were created using the Vintage Overlay 12 x 12 designer template, copied three times.  Then I rearranged and added and deleted elements to create three different pages.

My Digital Studio Family Sunday

Recently my daughter visited with her two kids.  It was so fun to take the kids to the zoo and enjoy their faces as we rode the Merry-Go-Round, watch the sea lion show, the bears, lions, giraffes, gorilla – well, you get the idea.

Occasionally on Sundays I like to share family pictures.  So here’s a few pages from an album I created in My Digital Studio of our visit to the zoo.  Enjoy!

1. 2. 3. 4.I used the 8×8 Hoppy Memories template which comes with the full version of My Digital Studios.  It has a frog theme but I decided to delete the frogs and then I just added pictures.  It was that simple!

Summer Smooch Birthday

Summer Smooches and a butterfly make a great birthday card combination!  Remember this project?  It was actually inspired by the card below that I created in My Digital Studio.  The background looks like a paper project – doesn’t it?

The background was made in My Digital Studio with the added punch of a birthday greating and Big Shot butterfly with rhinestone.  The digital designer papers from the Summer Smooches Suite digital content CD and the digital flag punch make this background bright and extra special.  This special release CD is available until April 30th.

I created the background on a 8 1/2 x 11 sheet and then cut the page in quarters to make duplicate cards.  Here’s just the quarter page.  This background could be used for any occasion-don’t you think?

Masculine Digital Birthday Card

Using cool tools like My Digital Studio and the Simply Scored scoring pad with the matching card stock makes it quick and easy to  create this extra special masculine birthday card.  I was able to print four backgrounds on one sheet of card stock, allowing for quick duplication!The background is created in My Digital Studio which was layered on Early Espresso card stock.  The colors for the card were selected from the colors in the digital version of the Well Worn designer paper.  The sentiment was stamped with Not Quite Navy and the banner was cut from Cajun Craze card stock then adherred with dimensionals in the middle.  This banner is easy to create with the Simply Scored scoring tool.  Just line your tag up to the top of the scoring pad and score on each side, then score again 1/8″ from your first score lines.  Now that you have your card stock scored fold it to create your banner.  Then punch your flag ends with the corner of your 1″ square punch.This background was inspired by a card I saw which used punched designer paper circles in a pattern similar to this.  I created the same background in My Digital Studio with digital punches and papers.

This is the card I sent to my son-in-law for his birthday. I changed it up a bit. I punched the sentiment out with the large oval punch.   And I layered the background design on Not Quite Navy card stock.
