Best of Butterflies Hope Card

best of butterflies hope card I saw three challenges at Splitcoaststampers that I combined to create this Best of Butterflies hope card – a color challenge, a sketch challenge and a technique challenge.  These challenges inspired my color selection, the layout and the ribbon loops on this card.  And I used the new totally clear Designer Typeset stamp set to stamp hope.  It’s so easy with this new stamp set to create what ever message you would like.

Rather than adding the loops under the stamped panel, I decided to trim them to a point and attach them to the top of the panel for a little different look.  Can you see the glitter I added to the butterfly wings.   A little touch of 2-way glue  with a sprinkle of Dazzling Diamonds glitter goes a long way to adding a little something special.

How to Make an Ombre Chevron Birthday Card

friendly phrases ombre chevron birthday card This birthday card is simple, but it includes some great trendy elements: ombre color and a chevron pattern.   Ombre style is all the rage in hair color, but what about incorporating it into your card making?  And ombre has French origins which makes it super chic.

I’ve created a video to show you how I made this ombre, chevron birthday card.  You can view the supply list and video below.

define ombre

This card is not about perfection, it’s about highlighting the chevron pattern with a trendy technique and creating a fun card to celebrate a birthday. Don’t get hung up on perfection because you will likely get a little ink where you didn’t want it, but it’s all part of the effect.

I chose Regal Rose for this card because this color is being discontinued and it is one of my favorites. But the good news is Island Indigo will continue in the new collection instead of retiring this year and Rose Red will continue in the Stampin’ Up! regal collection line up. Check out more information about the color changes and be sure to order your favorites now as they will no longer be available as supplies are depleted.

Punch Art Birthday Bear Card

My granddaughter turned 4 last month!  It’s hard to believe that she is already 4 years old.  And she is the funniest little girl!  She wanted earrings so we sent her this birthday card with the money to get her ears pierced.  Here she is showing off her new earrings.

savannah's ears pierced

Here’s one of the latest Savannah stories from my daughter.  Stephanie says,  “Savannah comes up with the craziest stories.  This morning I asked her how she hurt her toe and she said, ‘I was playing and jumped into the laundry basket and a chicka-munk came up and cut my toe!’ Me: ‘it cut your toe?’ Sav: ‘Yeah! With Scissors! And it will call its other friends to come, so watch out for chicka-munks!!!'”

I love the way this little bear peers over the happy birthday message.  His little face is punched out in Early Espresso and Very Vanilla with lots of punches and finished with the Black Stampin’ Write marker and the White Gel pen.  The happy birthday message is a from the Stampin’ Rewards Wacky Wishes.  (This set is available free when you host a Stampin’ class, workshop or your personal order reaches $150.)

The Pretty in Pink background is embossed with the Honeycomb folder from the Spring catalog and the base of the card is Primrose Petals.  I knew this bear was going to get a lot of love from a four year old so I put it all together with the Liquid Multipurpose glue so it would be sure and hold together tight and withstand 4 year old abuse for as long as possible.

CHECK OUT THE BEAUTIFUL SPRING CATALOG!   which includes the Honeycomb embossing folder.

I can hardly believe that Sale-a-bration ends in 2 days!  When Sale-a-bration ends, this Vine Street embossing folder will go away too.  This is one of the three cards we made during the stamp camp over the weekend.  Super cute and super easy!  I love punch art bunnies.  This one is created with two punches of the Small Oval punch and a couple of punches of the smallest petal from the Blossom Petals Builder punch .

teeny tiny wishes happy easter bunny card

Happy Easter is stamped from the Stampin’ Up! Teeny Tiny Wishes Stamp Set and punched out with the Word Window punch .  After you punch it out you can feed one end of it into the bottom of the punch and shorten the strip, which is what I did here.
