Punch Hat Chic!

I was going for Audrey Hepburn, but it might be more Eliza Doolittle!  A reference to that wonderful musical classic My Fair Lady, of course!  What do you think?  Either way, it’s a fun card for a friend.  I wanted to create a card with simple, clean lines to highlight the hat.

This close up shows off the silver glimmer paper flower. The ruffle is added using the scallop oval punch. And a hint of a line to define the top of the hat was traced with the oval punch and the Sahara Sand Stampin’ Write marker.

Stampin’ Up! Vintage Chic

Vintage Vogue (retiring) is the perfect stamp set for clean and simple chic.  The color scheme is a hint of pink in Blushing Bride (retiring) and the always chic Basic Black.

The background was created by embossing white vellum card stock with the beautiful Finial Press Embossing Folder (retiring).   The embossed vellum was then mounted on Blushing Bride card stock.  The subtle pink behind the vellum shows off the elegant design of the embossed vellum.

The Big Shot Die-Cutting Machine is the star of the show on this card creating the elegant impressed background and the lovely black tag to frame the oval ‘friends’.

A simple little flower from Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack with a tiny pearl adds just the right touch.

Stampin’ Up! Kentucky Derby Hats

Happy Derby Day!  Yesterday I shared this fun derby hats card with you, but I wanted to show you the custom envelope and some close ups of the hats.

All these hats were created with three oval punches: the Extra Large Oval, Large Oval and Scallop Oval and the Twitterpated Designer Series Paper.

This first hat was made with the Large Oval punch.  The tail was snipped out with the Paper Snips and the final touch was the Flower Designer brad.

The Large Oval paper punches were layered with a paper punched Scallop Oval.  A little ribbon was added with a silver Glimmer paper flower and red brad.

This final and largest hat was created with the Extra Large Oval punch.  And the scrunch flower was made similarly to the scrunch flower here just much smaller.

Next week I’ll have a graduation card video for you AND a video of these hats.  Stay tuned!

Kentucky Derby Day!

Last year we moved to Louisville, Kentucky and everyone told me I was going to need to buy a big hat for derby!  Well, I didn’t buy a big hat, but I’ve seen a few and I created this card for the hostess of the derby party I’m going to tomorrow night.

These great hats are created with oval punches and Twitterpated Designer Series Paper.  I’ll post more details on making this project later this week.

And I did visit Churchill Downs Wednesday morning for Dawn at the Derby to watch the horses take their morning warm up.

So while your watching the Kentucky Derby tomorrow you can tell everyone you know someone who’s been there!

Enjoy!

Clean & Simple Zoo Inspired

You certainly don’t think of clean & simple with zoo, but look at this cute Punch Pals penquin friends card with it’s clean & simple designPenquins aren’t just for Christmas!  Aren’t they just engaging creatures?  So fun to watch as they dive through the water and then pop out onto the shore.

Technique:  Double Punching – The tags were punched with the Word Window punch.  The end of the tag was then reinserted from the top to trim off the end and create a shorter word window.  Technique:  Twine Tapping – I tapped the white baker’s twine with the brush end of the markers to add coordinating color for a little surprise.

The colors were inspired by the Summer Smooches Designer Series Paper and here’s a matching envelope made in seconds with the fabulous Simply Scored Tool and Simply Scored Diagonal Plate.  This paper is available until Monday, April 30 with all the other Summer Smooches preorder.
