Family Sunday: Prayer

Doesn’t this picture just melt your heart? This is my 1-1/2 yo granddaughter Siena kneeling for prayer with her mom and dad. I just thought this was the sweetest picture!  Look at those adorable curls on top of her head and the darling little folded arms and precious little toes curled up underneath her.

Years ago when my son was not quite 3, we went to a birthday party for a friend’s son, and he insisted that we pray before we ate the cake. It was pretty funny and one of my favorite memories from his childhood. (He’s now 21!)

I think there is something extra special about children praying.

Happy Sunday! Julie

clockworks two tag box

Clockworks Two Tags Gift Box

clockworks two tag box I made this cute Two Tag Die box at the Stampin’ Up! regional event in Chattanooga last fall.  And adorable 2-1/2″ square gift cards fit sweetly into the box.  Of course, you could use it to put other goodies into the box as well.  To make the box, die cut two of the Two Tag dies and fold on the score lines.  The die cuts will create the front and back of the box.

Cut 2-7/8″x 6-3/4″ piece of Calypso Coral cardstock and score horizonally at 2″ and 4-3/4″ and vertically at 1/2″ and 2-3/8″.  Crease the score lines and notch the hinged flaps.  These pieces will create the sides.  You’re ready to assemble your box.

Stamp a 1-1/4″ x 4-1/2″ piece of First Edition Specialty Designer Series Paper with the Clockworks Stamp Set with Gumball Green ink.  Scrunch the paper and adhere to the front of the box.  Stamp ‘Happiness’ from the One in a Million stamp set and create flag on top of toothpick.

The flower is created with the Fancy Flower punch.  Stamp Calypso Coral cardstock and punch two flowers.  Punch another flower from First Edition Specialty dsp.  Curl the petals with the bone folder.  Snip between two petals of the top flower and adhere one petal on top of the other.  Scrunch the dsp flower, adhere the dahlia and adhere to the front of the flower.

clockworks mini cards

These 2-1/2″ square Mini Card is stamped with the Clockworks stamp set in Pool Party, Gumball Green and Calypso Coral.  The message is stamped from the One in a Million stamp set.  And these little mini cards fit neatly into the Two Tags Box.

A Simple Butterfly Thank you Card

sweet sentiments butterfly thank you card

After Christmas we all need more thank you cards to show appreciation for all the wonderful gifts and favors we received over the holidays.  And clean and simple cards are a must when you want to make a more than just one!

I simply folded my Whisper White cardstock base before punching the scallop along the bottom.  I used the Simply Scored Scoring Tool to add a couple of scored lines above the scallop.  Be sure and score the back of the card to have the raised edge on the card front.  🙂

The scallop circle was punched from the Summer Smooch Designer Series paper and layered with a matching Tangerine Tango circle.  I punched the butterfly out twice with the Elegant Butterfly punch; once from the Summer Smooches dsp and once from Lucky Limeade.

I trimmed off a sliver of Daffodil Delight to add antennae and topped the butterfly with a rhinestone.  I curled the butterfly wings with my bone folder and used Multipurpose Liquid Glue to adhere the center of the butterfly to the punched circles. (Glue dots would work well for this too.)

With the butterfly accent ready to go I was able to stamp the “So Kind of You” sentiment from the Sweet Essentials stamp set in Island Indigo.

To attach the 1″ dsp strip under the scallop just right, I opened the card, lined it up the tulip strip with the bottom edge of the back, added glue to the underside of the scallop and closed the card so that the scallop was perfectly placed on the dsp strip.  That sounds more complicated than it is, but hopefully, you get the idea.
