A Crossword Puzzle Birthday Card

cross my heart crossword puzzle birthday card stampingjulie.com
I fell in love with this set when it was introduced in the spring catalog. I loved the little butterfly – I’m a sucker for butterflies, as you know! But I also loved the clever crossword puzzle greetings. I like crossword puzzles; not challenging crossword puzzles, just the easy ones that can be completed in a 15 minute break. I don’t do crossword puzzles for the challenge, I do them for the entertainment.

Even though a cute cupcake comes with the set and is a perfect pair for the happy birthday greeting, I still used the butterfly, because I LOVE butterflies!  (Have I mentioned that?)  And even though the crossword greeting has a whimsical feel, this card has a more sophisticated look I think because of the colors, the die-cut doily and the Natural Composition music paper.  My paper snips made easy work of clipping out the crossword.

Perfect Punches Birthday Note Card

perfect punches birthday note card stampingjulie.com
I love the note cards and envelopes for quick projects. Already cut and scored and a perfect size for easy crafting!  This little card came together quickly with the retiring Stampin’ Up! Circle Circus and Perfect Punches stamp sets.  I stamped the background with Regal Rose (going to miss that color!!) and Summer Starfruit.  The tag is stamped in Basic Gray.

After stamping the tag I punched it out with the Extra-Large Oval punch.  The bitty flower is punched with the shape from the Itty Bitty Shapes Punches and the smallest rhinestone tops it off.  Before adhering the tag to the card I tied a Summer Starfruit stitched ribbon knot around it and then added the tag with dimensionals.

I stamped the matching envelope flap with the same colors using a smaller circle stamp for the Regal Rose.  To stamp just the flap, tuck a piece of scrap paper under it to cover the rest of the envelope which protects it from the ink, then stamp away.

Simple Summer Silhouette Washi Tape Birthday Card

summer silhouette one in a million birthday card with envelope stampingjulie.com
Another clean and simple (CAS) card today inspired by a card by Joan Ervin and the new Epic Day This and That Washi Tape. And since it’s Joan’s birthday, I made it a birthday card.  Happy birthday, Joan!  The blossoms are stamped from the Stampin’ Up! Summer Silhouette set and the clever saying is from the One in a Million stamp set.  On the inside I stamped the continuation of the greeting.

I think this ‘that makes you one in a million’ birthday wish is so genius paired with the greeting on the front of the card!  It makes me wonder ‘why didn’t I think of that’?I stamped the blossom in Calypso Coral to match the washi tape on the front.

I lined the envelope with Calypso Coral pattern paper from the Tea for Two designer series paper.

I stamped the front of the card with Black StazOn and extended the stem of the longest blossom with the fine tip of the Basic Black Stampin’ Write Marker.  Then I added the washi tape and layered the front of the card on a Whisper White card base.

Summer Silhouettes Stamp Set

Just Believe Just For You CAS Card

just believe just for you card stampingjulie.com The Stampin’ Up! retiring stamp set Just Believe, Bonnie Klass and the Sunshine and Sprinkles designer series paper were the inspiration for this clean and simple (CAS) card. (The complete supply list is at the bottom of this post.)

I love this layout and have used it numerous times over the years, so when I saw Bonnie’s Open Seas card with the world map down the left side I knew just what I wanted to do. And since I wanted it bright and cheery I went straight to the Sunshine and Sprinkles for color inspiration.

just believe just for you card stampingjulie.com The center panel measures 3-3/4″ x 5″ which allows for a 1/4″ border on a standard 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″ card.  This size panel is my go-to when I’m layering color on color.  The circle were stamped in Melon Mambo, Pacific Point, Wild Wasabi, Marina Mist and Daffodil Delight and punched out with the 1-1/4″ circle punch.  After laying them out and adhering the circles to the panel, I used my paper snips to trim the circles at the top and the bottom.

just believe just for you card stampingjulie.com I stamped the sentiment from the same Just Believe stamp set and wrapped Bakers Twine around the panel before I adhered it to the card base with dimensionals.  Another option would be to use a mask and stamp the circles directly on the card front.  For more information on using a mask, check out this post or watch the video below.

just believe just for you card stampingjulie.com As I mentioned before the Sunshine and Sprinkles dsp was the inspiration for the colors on this card and I lined my envelope with paper from this pack.  I hope to post a video tomorrow and show you how easy it is to line your envelopes with coordinating patterns.
