5 Digital Photo Scrapbook Ideas

MDS Marathon Photo Book There is no time like now to start scrapbooking!  When my children were young I had to drag out boxes of materials and printed photos to create scrapbook memories for my family.  Now it is so easy to put a whole album together for whatever theme, or event you choose.

I didn’t start scrapbooking until my oldest daughters were 8 and 10, so they thought there were no pictures of them when they were young because the only pictures they saw were the pictures that made it into albums. And that didn’t happen until I started scrapbooking!

They were so shocked to learn that there were boxes of photos of their baby and toddler years hidden in the recesses of a dark closet.  And that’s what happens to our pictures and memories; no one sees them if we don’t start preserving them in a way that is accessible.

While I was at my sister’s house recently I photographed the covers of several My Digital Studio scrapbooks that she created for her family. So here are five ideas of photo books that can be created in My Digital Studio 2 that will allow your family to enjoy special moments forever.

1. Celebrate an Accomplishment – My nephew trained for and ran the Nashville Country Music Marathon during his senior year in high school.  My sister documented this special accomplishment and created this 8″ x 8″ photobook to commemorate it.

2. Honor a Special Person on a Special Occasion –  When our mother turned 70, my sister created this 8-1/2″ x 11″ photobook which included pictures and letters of appreciation to my mother from her brothers and sisters, son and daughters and grandchildren.  What an incredible gift.

3. Create a Theme Book – In this case the theme was visits to Disney World, where five trips to Disney were documented with pictures and stories of the family adventures at the theme park.  Another great theme book is a Christmas or Holiday Theme photo book where you showcase pictures from several Holidays in chronological order.

4. Preserve the Memories of Summer Travel – Last summer my sister’s hubby was working in New York so the family spent a lot of time staying in Time Square.  Wow!  What a great experience and all the memories are preserved in this 12″ x 12″ photo book – We Were Here, NYC (2011).

5. Remember an Extra-Special, Once-In-A-Lifetime Trip – A few years ago, my brother-in-law was working in Japan for several months.  With all his traveling that year, he earned lots of frequent flier miles and at the end of his assignment in Japan, he was able to bring the whole family over!  The whole experience is replayed is this beautiful 12″ x 12″ photo scrapbook.

MDS Japan Trip Photo Book

Today, our most memorable trip was a trip to Disney in 2003 around which I created an entire scrapbook.  We can remember all the little nuances of that trip: the kids dancing with the street entertainers, the joy of getting wet unexpectedly in a water fountain, the funny faces we made waiting in line for a scary ride, taking pictures while we tried on all the goofy hats in the shop, and my hubby and I getting pulled out of the VERY large parade crowd to sing to each other in front of that VERY large parade crowd!  Crazy, fun memories!!

Record your memories and enjoy your special moments forever!

Create a Wedding Photo Guest Book

sample wedding guest book 1 A couple of years ago when my daughter got married, I created a photo guest book for the wedding, so their guest could sign in and add their well wishes.

It was super easy to do using My Digital Studio and a designer template.  In fact, it was my first time using the program and I completed the book in one morning.

Using the Summer Home designer template, I simply eliminated some of the embellishments and photo boxes to allow for plenty of room for signatures and messages from their guests.

sample wedding guest book 3 I also changed out the colors in some cases.  For example, the page above and below had  a red background which would have been hard to write on, so I changed it to a Kiwi Kiss background, which was lighter.

The brackets on this page were in Kiwi Kiss, so when I changed the background paper to Kiwi Kiss, I changed the brackets to Bashful Blue.  This is super easy to do with the My Digital Studio 2 update.  You just highlight the brackets, click on then’recolor’ icon and then choose the color you want.  After I eliminated the extra photoboxes and embellishments and rearranged a few things, I simply dropped the pictures into place and viola! instant wedding photo guest book!

The morning I created their wedding guest book, my laptop wasn’t working, so I used my son’s laptop.  As a result I lost the original file after I sent it to Stampin’ Up! to be printed, so I recreated it here so you could see how I did it.  I plan to create a video tutorial this week on how to create a photo guest book.

Enjoy, Julie

So Grateful Printable

So Very Grateful!

So Grateful Printable Yesterday started as a great day.  I got up early, enjoyed my bible study, did a little work, went to a spin class, came home and quickly showered to go to a meeting at the church, went to the church for a relatively short meeting with some sweet ladies and that was the end of the great day!

My husband was working from his home office on Wednesday.  He had been on conference calls all morning.  When I walked in the door at 1:00 I found him passed out on the floor of the kitchen.  He had been slicing tomatoes for a sandwich.  He turned to put the knife in the sink, slipped and fell with the butcher knife in his hand, hit his head, and cut himself badly and had gone into shock!  Of course, I was in shock too by this time!  It was a horrific experience to find him like that.

He was taken by ambulance to the emergency room and I was SOOOO thrilled when I was finally able to see him and he was coherent AND he had a great report from the doctor – no significant injuries.  They kept him overnight for observation, but he is fine now and I am SOOOO very happy to have him home!

Love that good man I married many years ago!

I made this little sign this afternoon when we got home from the hospital.

Here’s a PDF copy if you are feeling grateful for the wonderful people in your life!      So Grateful printable

Stampin’ Up! Digital Scrapbooking Update

family reunion beach vacation

Stampin’ Up!’s digital scrapbooking solution, My Digital Studio 2, is HERE with 75 updates of the original software!   And the 30-day trial is still available.  My Digital Studio 2 can help you preserve memories and/or create unique home decor and personalized greeting cards.

But first, the picture above is from my family reunion vacation at St. Augustine Beach in Florida.  What a wonderful week we had with family hanging out at the beach and the pool and playing games.  I love these low-key vacations that provide lots of time for catching up with aunts and uncles and cousins and getting to know the kids and the new babies in the family.  It’s been five years since the last DeLoach reunion and there were over 60 people that came and added to the fun!  I’m so glad so many made it a priority to reunite this year.  What a blessing family is!

Unfortunately, I did not have the internet connection that I expected to have while I was there so keeping connected with you was more of a challenge.  I hope you didn’t miss me too much.  🙂

And to add to my internet frustration, MDS 2 launched while I was gone!  I was finally able to download the update to my computer late on Saturday and it is fabulous!  I’ll get home later today and I’m looking forward to playing with it more, but I love the updates.  With the new program you can round paper and photo corners, crop and recolor digital stamp brushes and embellishments, easily fill punches with photos, recolor designer series paper, add a splatter image, etc. etc. etc.!!!

Stampin' Up! Digital Design and Scrapbooking Software

Not only is this wonderful new software available, but during the month of August you can get 31% off on 31 digital downloads and most printing options!  What will you create with My Digital Studio 2 (MDS2)?  Scrapbooks highlighting your summer vacation, your favorite people and places, a child’s school year, a extraordinary accomplishment, your ancestors’ stories, a special occasion.  The possibilities are endless.  MDS2 makes it incredibly easy to do all this in very little time.

A couple of years ago I used My Digital Studio for the very first time and created a 20-page wedding sign-in photobook in one morning!  Yes, that’s right, one morning.  In fact, I had agreed to take someone to the hospital that day for an out-patient procedure and I took a laptop to a McDonald’s around the corner from the hospital and created the book while I waited for her to be released so I could take her home. True story – It’s really that easy!

Check This Out rafting trip album page

Happy Sunday And Give Back!

Check This Out rafting trip album page

In May we visited my husband’s family in North Carolina and took James, Kristin and Joel (Kristin’s husband)  white water rafting on the Ocoee River.  This was the first time Joel had been to NC and rafted with us.  It’s such a blast and even though it’s a little rougher than some of the other rivers, you go down with a guide so it feels a little safer to me.

This page was created with the Check This Out album pages in My Digital Studio.  During the month of August Stampin’ Up! is offering discounts on card and album printing, so this is the time to get your projects done.

I’ve been reading and enjoying the DIY projects on the Pretty Handy Girl blog for some time.  Today she featured a post about her friend Colleen.  You can read Colleen’s story here and if you think you can help, click on the picture below.
