Betsy’s Blossoms Happy Independence Day!

moving forward betsy's blossoms happy 4th card

Happy Independence Day!  Here’s a unique way to use the large blossom from Betsy’s Blossoms stamp set – as color bursts.   Midnight Muse and Real Red are the perfect color combination to celebrate the 4th.

This ‘happy’ banner is from Itty Bitty Banners and actually says happy birthday but by layering the tag and changed it up.  I wanted a red ‘burst’ layered beneath 4th and didn’t have anything that was the right size to place under the 1″ circle so I pieced a couple of large punched flowers from the Boho Blossoms punch.

I stamped the blossom with Bashful Blue before stamping the sail boat in Midnight Muse.  Then I stamped the sails in red, trimmed them out with my Paper Snips and popped them up on Stampin’ Dimensionals.  The final detail was adding Dazzling Details glitter glue.

Enjoy your Independence Day Celebrations!  I’m so thankful for the freedoms we enjoy in this great country and grateful to all the men and women that have made & make these freedoms possible!

A Reason to Smile Thank You

reason to smile thank you card with butterfly

The Reason to Smile stamp set is only available during the month of july and it’s only $5 with a $50 product purchase (retail value $20.95).  It’s a spectacular set with some great floral images that I just love!

reason to smile thank you card detail

I created this card for a color challenge at Splitcoast Stampers.  The challenge was to use White, Olive and Navy.  I used the new Midnight Muse for the navy.   This great blue has become a go to color for me.  And a rhinestone in the middle of the butterfly is always the perfect touch.

To create this card I made a mask using the Labels Collection Framelit, then layered this on top of the Whisper White card stock and sponged the interior of the image.  Then I stamped the flowers first with Marina Mist for the fill in color and then with Midnight Muse for the flower outline.  After everything was stamped I removed the mask and ran the piece through the Big Shot Die-Cutting Machine with the Perfect Polka Dots Folder.

Don’t forget to get the Reason to Smile stamp set today and enjoy these great floral images.

Day On The Lake With Lovely As A Tree

lovely as a tree lake card

I made this lake thank you card for my friend that invited us to their lake house this past weekend.  Thank you, Lisa!  We spent Saturday on the boat and really had a great time watching the kids ski, play in the water, buzz around on the jet ski and jump from the diving rock.  Unfortunately, I didn’t have a camera with me so the card is all you get to see!

I made this brayered card similar to the Father’s Day card and just added the lake and mounted it a little differently.

I think creating these little works of art is so much fun and so immensely satisfying.  Don’t you?  It’s the best kind of instant gratification.

Clean and Simple Eiffel Tower Silhouette

artistic etchings eiffel tower amour

This Eiffel Tower stamp from the Stampin’ Up!’s Artistic Etchings stamp set and the Basic Gray paper from the Twitterpated Designer Series Paper makes a great silhouette.  I stamped the Eiffel Tower on the back of the paper and cut it out carefully with Paper Snips.  Looks intricate, but easy to do with these great scissors.

This is not your traditional card size.  I started with a 6″x6″ square of Whisper White card stock folded in half for the card base for a 3″x6″ card.

Can you see the pattern on the Summer Starfruit card stock?  The crown and key images were stamped with VersaMark ink to create that pattern.

I punched the Primrose Petals oval with the Extra-Large Oval Punch to create the background for the silhouette.  I picked the color combination from the Color Coach – a great tool for creative color choices.
