We usually have a quiet at-home celebration to avoid the crowds. We always write each other letters and then read them together on Valentine’s Day. It’s been a sweet tradition!
~Alicia
Alicia – that’s a lovely tradition! In fact, I’m posting a printable tomorrow to help everyone with their love notes.
For the first time since 1996, I will NOT be delivering flowers to others on Valentine’s Day! Therefore, I will be able to actually enjoy the day. Already received a beautiful heart necklace from my hubby of 31 years so I can wear it this week and have tickets to a nice dinner with entertainment of an illusionist after. Really looking forward to the
romantic holiday that I used to dread!
Marcie, sounds like this year will be a fabulous holiday for you and your husband! Congrats on 31 years and have a great time Thursday.

Since my husband took the day off, we are going for a nice lunch together, just the two of us, and avoid the crowds at restaurants in the evening. For dinner, I plan to make steaks on the grill with caramelized onions, asparagus in hollandaise sauce, roasted herbed potatoes, and a salad. I have the house decorated with all kinds of fluttering hearts hung from upstairs. Looking forward to the day. Barb
Will be waiting up for my husband to get home at 11pm that night to give him my handmade valentine and have a glass of wine.
I’m sure he’ll love your handmade valentine! Enjoy!

Hi Julie,
I’m new to your blog and really enjoy your beautiful card inspiration!!
For valentines day I will be passing out all my handmade cards to my co-workers, friends and family! As well as making a special dinner for my husband.
Thanks so much for your inspiration!
We are making a nice «vegetarian» meal at home! Including some awful/nice dessert… Happy V-day everyone!
Enjoy your home-cooked meal and yummy dessert! We enjoy eating plant-based meals as well.
Hello Julie: I feel so fortunate to have found your blog. Every day I find new inspiration and fabulous ideas and tutorials. Thank you for sharing your talent with us.
For Valentine’s Day, my hubby and I will have a quiet dinner at home, restaurants are often so packed on this days. Our daughters are both married and they will be doing their own thing but, they will bring a mistery dessert, YUM!! I’ve been trying to trick them into telling me but neither are giving in any information.
Anyway, Happy Valentine’s Day to you and your family.
Oh, so sweet, Maria! Thank you! Enjoy your evening at home and your special, surprise dessert too.
Teach seminary, walk the dogs, smother my honey with kisses and give him a box of valentine goodies, which, BTW, I made from watching your amazing tutorial video! It turned out great. I’m going to put chocolate kisses, peanut butter hearts and m&m’s inside. He likes all of those.
Then – I’m going to make him a delicious dinner and set a nice table with candles and the whole nine yards! Hope you have a fun day too!
Karen, it sounds like you have a wonderful day planned! And I’m so happy that you found the heart box class helpful. I’d love to see a picture of the box you made. You always do such fabulous work!
I’ll be working that day, I volunteer at our local hospital. Just having dinner by myself. Since my husband passed away, Valentines is just another day for me. Thanks for a chance to win some goodies, That would be great.

Babe, I’m so sorry for your loss. Sounds like you will spend Thursday blessing many lives and that’s what it is all about! 🙂
My Valentine’s Day will be celebrated by having my refrigerator icemaker fixed. I know it doesn’t sound glamorous but for me, heaven to have ice and water flowing through my fridge again! Have a Happy Valentine’s Day, Julie! Sending love your way!
I hope you will be able to enjoy a fixed refrigerator Thursday! Happy Valentine;s Day!
I hope to spend a little quality time with my Honey before leaving to go babysit my new grandbaby for a week! Love your card ideas Julie!
Thanks, Lynnette. I’m glad you are enjoying the ideas. And enjoy your evening with your sweetheart!
My hubby made reservations for us at our favorite restaurant.
Sounds like a lovely evening! Have fun, Betty!
Well, I will be attending a stamping sleepover at a friends house and we will be stamping 8 a.m. to midnight. We do this every Valentine’s weekend. Can’t wait…..
I bet you can’t wait! That sounds great! Enjoy your weekend!
Well, after 32 years of marriage, two years ago I was dealt a divorce that I never wanted. So this Valentine’s Day I’ll be babysitting two sweet grandchildren who will be waiting for their mommy to return after a 4-day business trip. She was widowed when she was 28 yrs old, and 6 weeks pregnant. None of us would choose to be in these situations, but we each know that God is in control and promises to provide for our every need! Maybe we’ll make Valentines for Mommy while we wait for her arrival!
Suzie, so sorry to hear about your losses! It is so sad and hard, but you are absolutely right – God is in control and will multiply our blessings upon our heads. Enjoy those wonderful grandchildren!
since Gary works late on that day we will do something fun on the weekend like lunch and a movie 🙂
Great idea, Marlene. Enjoy your movie.
Lunch with sundayschool class
That sounds like a lovely way to spend the day, Shirley.
My husband is taking our daughter to her girl scout meeting. She cant wait because it will be daddy and daughter time. I will be making cupcakes for my daughters valentine day party on Friday with my sons help. We will celebrate this weekend. We will be together 11 years on Saturday.
What a nice memory for your daughter and husband. And have fun with those cupcakes. Congrats on 11 years! Awesome!
My sis-in-law gave me some instructions for making some valentines so I made several and am having fun filling them with sweet chocolate goodies and giving them away, tomorrow I plan to give to someone I don’t yet know. Not sure yet details for our Valentines of our wonderful 29 years marriage! Still an amazing love!
I’m sure everyone will love your handmade valentines. 29 years! Wonderful!
Just love your stuff 🙂 We will take in an afternoon movie, grab a bite to eat and go to a comedy show at our church!
Thanks, Cathy! Enjoy your movie and your show.
I plan to spend the day sleeping in, taking my dog to the park and then treating myself to a pedicure.
Fabulous plans, Kristen. Enjoy your day!
Hubby will be out-of-town, so it’ll just be Sarah and I. Hopefully Gene has something planned for the weekend!
Hey, Cheryl. Enjoy your day with Sarah and I’m sure you and Gene will have a wonderful weekend too!
Been married for 41 years and still do the same thing for Valentines day. I cook my DH a lovely dinner. Set up the card table by a roaring fire in the fireplace. Tablecloth, candles, and soft music. Then clean up and watch tv together. It’s my way of telling him how much I appreciate what he does for me through the year.
That sounds like a terrific 41 year tradition. Enjoy, Margaret!
My husband and I already celebrated Valentine’s Day yesterday – we couldn’t wait any longer to give our gifts. (Well, really, he started it, because his were much better than mine!) I’ve been pestering him for weeks to sit down and talk about what we were doing for V-Day, if anything, because I wasn’t sure if he was going to book a room at our favorite B&B or just do dinner or what – so because I was being wallet-conscious until I got an answer, I only picked up some of his favorite candies and pop along with a card. He, in return, had overdone it. Not only did he give me $75 to spend on a deep tissue massage (I have fibromyalgia and it might help!), but he also asked a coworker in Florida to get some sand from a local beach for me. When we traveled there last month for his work, TSA took out the cork-top vial of sand I had in my checked baggage – no explanation, no sand, no vial. I was pretty upset, actually. So somehow Ruby from Florida is sending a jar of sand through her cousin up to where we live in Ohio, just for me. 🙂 Unbelievable. And I only got him candy. Sheesh.
What a sweet thing to do. You have a keeper, for sure!
We have already had dinner and will probably take in a movie.
Hubby has an eye doctor’s appointment so all will be determined
after the visit. Whatever it turns out to be it will be great. We have been having fun for 44 years so I assume it will continue!
Congrats on 44 years of fun, Lynn!
So cute.
kiss
Thanks!
Made valentines for all of the widows in my SS class. Made pocket cards with treats for my co-workers.
That’s wonderful, Jo Dee! I’m sure they will love them.
